Bengal records highest single-day spike of 475 fresh Covid-19 cases, total tally at 15,648

Bengal witnessed its highest single-day spike with 475 fresh Covid-19 cases recorded on Thursday. With this, the total number of novel coronavirus cases in the state stood at 15,648.

West Bengal witnessed its highest single-day spike with 475 fresh Covid-19 cases recorded on Thursday. With this, the total number of novel coronavirus cases in the state stood at 15,648.

There are 4,852 active cases while the total number of Covid-19 patients released after recovery stand at 10,190. With more number of discharged patients than active cases, the state has recorded discharge rate of 65 per cent.

Kolkata, which has remained the epicenter of the outbreak, crossed 5000-mark on Thursday. The city has recorded 5,133 Covid-19 cases so far with 2,928 active cases.

On Thursday, the state recorded 15 more deaths taking the total death toll to 606, more than half of which have been in Kolkata.

With 50 operational testing laboratories functioning in the state, Bengal has tested 4,39,258 samples as on June 25 at a rate of 4,881 tests per million population.

Currently, the state has 10,425 Covid beds with occupancy rate of 21 per cent. According to the state health department, there are 948 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 395 ventilators in the state as of now.
